Easter Update

Sunday saw the close of another successful run of sessions. A group of skaters that were all new to skating six weeks ago, now equipped with the basics, and a group of improvers, taking the basics to the next level!

In this last block of six weeks we’ve seen skaters grow in confidence, with hype fuelled grins, and skateboards banging on the floor to acknowledge others pushing their limits and progressing. This last session was delivered in a local skatepark, where the skaters were given free reign to find features and lines they enjoyed, with coaches on hand to give pointers and keep things safe. It was awesome to watch the skaters navigate the skatepark independently, sharing ideas and encouraging each other. What was equally as awesome, was seeing parents and families on the sides, on their own skateboards, chatting, and getting to know each other.

Looking back at the last six weeks, we’ve also delivered our first over 25’s skate club. The session was sold out and oversubscribed. We saw a full hall of new, or returning adult skaters mastering the basics and learning new skills.  Almost half of the group dropped in unaided, and others were close. We loved this session, and will definitely be putting another on!

A few weeks rest over the Easter break and we’re back at it. A really kind donation of equipment from Holmfirth Rotary Club, and a fantastic pot of funding from Sport England will see us taking the sessions into local schools, free of charge to skaters. We’ve also got a new Saturday group of beginners, and a new group of improvers starting 7th June and lets not forget the ladies only skate jam in June.

Keep skating and enjoy the Easter sunshine!
